2012 la pitchoune pinot noir
This is not your typical California Pinot Noir. This wine is very special indeed. Created to be much like a French-style Burgundy, this wine truly shines by revealing its high-quality sustainably-grown grapes, the best possible French oak barrels, and most importantly the “terroir”. Although this wine is remarkably approachable and drinks really well right now, it will only get better over the next 10-15 years. This vintage demonstrates the perfect marriage of new vs. old-world with prominent, dramatically delicious velvety-layered fruit with restrained minerality that makes it shine with food.
“Sublime pinot noir for drinking through 2017 or ’18. Exceptional.”
- Fredric Koeppel, biggerthanyourhead.net
“Destined to be a favorite among customers, this Pinot shows off the true potential of its region, balancing New World expression with classic Burgundy restraint. 95 points.”
