La Pitchoune Computer Folks... Keep It Real.

It has been an amazing year for us here at La Pitchoune Winery!

The team here has much to be thankful for this year. We’ve had some incredible scores and placements for our wines:

- Our Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir got a Best of 2018 ranking and 94 Points by Wine Enthusiast

- Our VDK Pinot Noir got 95 Points from Robert Parker / Wine Advocate

- Our 2017 rosé was named one of the "20 Best Sonoma Rosés to Drink This Summer" by Sonoma Magazine.

And this year our wines made it onto the wine lists for several Michelin-starred restaurants including The French Laundry and Auberge du Soleil and is for sale on the east coast in New York City and Long Island for the first time ever. Our wine is even available in England now!

It’s been a great year!

But amid all the hype and scores and high-profile placements, we are equally excited to sit down with friends and club members and chat and share some wine. The most fun in all of this is sharing our wines with you. So we are thankful for each and everyone of you who have supported us as we were getting started and continue to come to our events. We hope to share a glass with all of you in the coming year.

Cheers,
Peter, Tracy, Andrew and Brett

Bring La Pitchoune Home for the Holidays

Okay - we saw some photos of snow on Facebook, which marks the official kick-off of the season on "gift giving emails"!

We want to remind you that when you buy wine direct from us, or any other small, independently owned winery, you are supporting someone's passion project. We were born to make wine. And we are looking to connect with those who were born to drink it.

Do you enjoy wine with your family? Or because of your family?
What do you give to someone who has everything they need? Experiences. Our Chenin Blanc and rosé (Vin Gris of Pinot Noir) offer someone the chance to slow down, relax, and enjoy life. Moments when family, food, friends and fun come together are wonderful. And wine was invented for these moments.

Are Your Business Connections "Pinot Worthy"?
We offer many options for gifts. Especially if they are "Pinot Worthy". We are happy to take your client list and handle all the shipping and packing ourselves. We'll even sign the bottles to each person or slip in holiday cards signed by you. Just reach out to Tracy at tnielsen@lapitchounewinery.com and we can put together something awesome for your clients, employees or co-workers.

A gift for yourself
Nothing says the "Troll the ancient Yuletide carol" like quietly opening a bottle of one of our Sonoma Coast Chardonnays after the rest of the family falls asleep. Shhh. This is your time. It will all get done. But not right now.

Joy to the world
All the boys and girls now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

Cheers,
Andrew, Peter, Tracy and Brett

The Backyard Conversation About La Pitchoune Winery

A few weeks back Tracy sat down at Backyard in Forestville with Jeff Davis. Jeff does a great podcast called, "On the Wine Road" (high five for his nod to Jack Kerouac). Much like Kerouac, he travels around and drinks and records his observations. He and Tracy sat down and hung out and chatted about the history of our winery and the goals we have. The interview is about 18 minutes long. Or, as we like to think, "A glass and a half". Go ahead - pour yourself a glass and enjoy! You can listen to the podcast here: https://onthewineroad.us/la-pitchoune-winery/

La Pitchoune Winery Wins Best Premium Chardonnay in the Largest Competition of American Wines

The 2014 La Pitchoune Chardonnay from Chenoweth Vineyard was crowned the best premium Chardonnay ($45+) at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, being named Best of Class.

Founded in 2012 by Peter & Tracy Nielsen, La Pitchoune was established with the vision of creating beautifully balanced wines by combining the consistent and predictable weather of Sonoma with true old-word techniques. In a world filled with consumer demands to produce wines that can be enjoyed immediately, La Pitchoune wines are going against the grain and people are beginning to take notice.

The SFCWC Best of Class winners, are widely regarded as among the best wines in America. Due to the SFCWC’s size and the expertise of the judging panel, this competition is often considered the ultimate barometer for wine consumers to select and measure wine.

“The San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition is the definitive competition for American wines. To win a medal here – to stand out in a crowd of 7,000-plus submissions – is an enormous accomplishment for a winery,” said Esther Mobley, the San Francisco Chronicle Wine, Beer and Spirits editor.”

The persistent and steadfast vision of co-founder Tracy Nielsen, who also happens to be the Assistant Winemaker, is what has so quickly enabled La Pitchoune to rise to the top, receiving awards and praise from acclaimed press, industry peers as well as customers. “At La Pitchoune, the wines always come first. While others are racing to release their wines as quickly as possible, we prefer to nurture and age our wines. We only recently released our 2014 wines to the public for a reason, they are complex and nuanced and require some time in the bottle to really come into their own. The wonderful thing about receiving this recognition from SFCWC is that these wines are only going to get better over time”, continues Tracy.

La Pitchoune Master Winemaker, Andrew Berge, comments on the distinction: “Being named Best of Class is a great honor and the result of working closely with our wine-growers over a number of years to implement our sustainable farming practices that truly reflect the old-world style of wine that we aim to create at La Pitchoune. The 2014 wines demonstrate exceptional purity and balance unmatched by any vintage of recent memory that have provided an excellent foundation to really showcase what La Pitchoune is about”.

Aside from receiving the best of class distinction for the 2014 Chenoweth Chardonnay, La Pitchoune also received medals for the 2014 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, the 2014 Holder Vineyard Pinot Noir and the 2016 Chenin Blanc.
