Pete Marvelous Presents: A Summer Mix Paired with Your La Pitchoune Vin Gris

Welcome to the Summer of Rosé!

What better way to beat the heat and have a good time this summer than with our just released 2015 Vin Gris of Pinot Noir. Our 2015 Vin Gris of Pinot Noir is an expressive, bright pink wine with wonderful crisp berry taste and vibrant acidity. The source of the fruit stems from our English Hill, Morris and and Holder Vineyards extracted through the traditional sagné method. Once fermented, the wine is then aged in neutral French oak for 6 months which helps give it that unique texture and mouth-feel that has made this wine so famous.

And, to help you enjoy this wine even more, we asked world-famous DJ Pete Marvelous to come up with a playlist that he likes to listen to while drinking his La Pitchoune Vin Gris. You can stream the music at the playlist below (but you have to have Spotify on your computer!).

And you can order your 2015 La Pitchoune Vin Gris by clicking here.

Today's Holder Vineyard Visit - Checking in on the Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Our winemaker, Andrew Berge, was stomping through the vineyards today. Here are some photos of Holder Vineyard, where we source grapes for our Holder Vineyard Pinot Noir. Holder Vineyard is just over 750 feet above sea level, about 1 mile northeast of downtown Occidental, in West Sonoma County. The vineyard is less than 1 acre and it produces Pinot noir grapes that truly represent the best of the Sonoma Coast.

Here's are the photos:

Great review from the Wine Guys...

“La Pitchoune has been quietly making some small production wines that are nothing short of marvelous.”

We sent our wines into the fellas at The Wine Guys because we liked the way that they approach their wine tastings and reviews. They ended up doing a great write up on our wines. You can read the entire post on their website here.

La Pitchoune Robert Parker Reviews

2013 sonoma coast chardonnay
“This is a gorgeous, rich, medium to full-bodied 2013 Chardonnay with stunning purity, nice orange blossom, tangerine oil, a spring floral note, terriffic concentration and a long finish. This is an impressive Burgundian-style Chardonnay (think Bâtard-Montrachet) that should drink well for 4-6 years". 94 points - Robert Parker.

2013 sonoma coast pinot noir
"There are 15 barrels of the 2013 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast. Sweet cherries and strawberries jump from the glass of this lush, sexy medium to full-bodied Pinot Noir. The wood has a nice spice and judicial touch of oak without being overwhelming. Beautifully textured, medium to full-bodied and long, this sexy, round, lush Pinot Noir should drink well for another 7-8 years." 90 points.
- Robert Parker

2013 english hill pinot noir
"The 2013 Pinot Noir English Hill Vineyard is from another coastal site and is a tiny cuvee of only 100 cases. The color is dark ruby/gamet, the wine offering up notes of allspice, red and black cherries and deep currants. It is textured, rich and concentrated. This is a complete package that drinks nicely now and will cellar for 5-7 years." 90 points.
- Robert Parker

2013 holder vineyard pinot noir
"The 2013 Pinot Noir Holder Vineyard from Russian River is another small cuvee of about 125 cases. This has more earth, spice and subtle brush and vegetative characteristics that are often found in Russian River Pinot. The wine has a ruby color, a sweet nose of ripe cherries, and is medium full-bodied, round and juicy. Drink it over the next 5-6 years."
- Robert Parker

2013 van der kamp pinot noir
"The 2013 Pinot Noir Van der Kamp Vineyard, from a Sonoma Mountain site made famous first by Landmark Winery, is a small 100-case cuvee. Distinctive earthiness, forest floor and spice box with a peppery edge is followed by dark cherries, blacker fruits, more structure and masculinity. This is a firm, more beastly style of Pinot, but everything is in place. Drink it over the next decade." 90 points.
- Robert Parker

2013 vdk pinot noir
“The 2013 Pinor Noir VDK from Sonoma Mountain is a selection of what they consider the best, as only 50 cases were produced. Slightly deeper than its siblings from Van der Kamp, the wine has plenty of pomegranate, cinnamon, red cherry, and hints of earth and underbrush. it is medium to full-bodied, concentrated and very Burgundian. This one could use another year or two of bottle age and should drink well for at least a decade". 90+ points - Robert Parker.
